welcome to the importance of being curious

Welcome to my blog, the importance of being curious, and thanks for being here. It genuinely means a lot to me.

I'm Lauren and I am nurse by profession. I started my career as a General Duty Nursing Officer in the Canadian Forces. Completing basic military training and nursing officer training as a young adult has undoubtedly influenced my interest in leadership and my own leadership style.

At the age of 26, I released from the military and moved to Australia. In the more than a decade that I’ve been here, I have worked in both the public and private healthcare systems and now in not-for-profit. I’ve worked directly with patients, in education, in management, in quality and in risk.

I completed a double master's in international public health and health management from the University of New South Wales in 2020. I think it was while doing this study that I came to understand how little I actually know and how much more there will always be to learn.

While I do read a lot and will reference ideas from books and pop culture from time to time, this blog will be largely reflections on my own learnings over the years. I hope it will create opportunities for you to reflect and share ideas as well.

I would love to hear your feedback and suggestions.
